When my father passed away in the states, it wasn't long before my mother decided that the multi-level home and quarter acre lot was just too much for her to handle on her own. I took time off from teaching elementary school and traveled over 1000 km to help her downsize her belongings so she could move into a retirement home.
It was an overwhelming process for my mom, every possession had a story and it was hard for her to let go. It was also a stressful time for me, I had to take time away from my own family and I only had a limited time off from teaching. Regretfully, the stress on both of us strained our relationship for a while.
I understand the need for patience and compassion during this process and the benefit of having someone who can take the time that's required to ease fears and concerns during such a life-changing transition.
Years later, when my mom had developed dementia and had moved into an assisted living centre, I had opportunities to spend extended periods of time with her. I would take her to activities and spend time with the other residents in the centre.
My mom's assisted living centre is where I developed a love for senior citizens and an understanding of the unique challenges they face. The patience and listening skills that I've developed in the classroom are a perfect match for work with seniors and families in these transitional times of life.
I started my first Estate Clearing Business (Unfinished Details) in 2019 with a partner who has since moved to BC. You can trust that I will use my experience and commitment to making sure you’re project gets our outmost care.
